Yesterday was definitely hard to deal with, we actually had to bleach everywhere and everything she touched because the pups could still get infected even when they are fully vaccinated. It’s a rare chance, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. So now we’re monitoring them for two weeks, after that… they should be in the clear.
It makes me so mad that the original owner had a litter of them and didn’t vaccinate them, because not only did Saki have parvo, her sibling also contracted it. My friend who took her in said that the owner was just giving them away for free, and we’re assuming that she knew that they were sick.
I know that at some places it can be costly to get them vaccinated, but there are places in Tucson who do give low cost vaccinations, so there’s really no excuse.

Happy birthday, my dear! I wish we could had gotten together to celebrate, but I’ll definitely make it up to you, I promise. Give me a heads up whenever you’re planning on visiting Phoenix or maybe even Tucson (we’ll go to this amazing gelato place)! I’ll (try) to be there in a flash!
I miss you so much! Enjoy that cupcake of yours!

These last two days were definitely one of the best and one of the worst days of my life, literally.
[[MORE]]On Wednesday, Chester and I were given the chance to bring home one of the sweetest puppies that we had ever met, and we did. During the hours that she was here, we instantly grew attach to her and loved her as if she was ours, but we both knew that we couldn’t keep her here forever. Our plan was to take her to the vet tomorrow for a physical check up, but later that night, her condition worsen… she began vomiting clear liquid and having bloody diarrhea.
We knew that she was dehydrated and starving, but she wouldn’t eat or drink anything. She just laid on the pups’ bed, drifting in and out of sleep. We originally had her in my hallway with a gate blocking off the rest of the house and a shoe rack to keep her out of my room just so she didn’t have an accident while we were sleeping, but on Thursday morning, we found her laying down in my room, half of her body in my closet.
Rather than waiting until after our Cantonese final, we took her to Banfield around 7:20 AM and we left around 10:00 AM without her. The night before, Chester researched her symptoms and we came to a conclusion that she had parvo which is why we rushed her into Banfield that morning. We weren’t aware of the severity, but as we sat there waiting with her, her health deteriorated. She just laid in the shopping cart, breathing heavily… all her strength was gone.
Even with treatment, we weren’t guaranteed that she would pull through and there was no way for us to afford the treatment. We came to the decision to have her euthanized, to ease her of the pain that she was feeling. We stayed with her to the very end so that she knew we were with her till her last breath.
Chester felt that it was best to give her a name before she left us, to give her an identity.
He named her Saki.
Earlier today, we headed to Petco to make a dog tag to remember her by and to Costco to purchase the few photos that we had of her.
She was the sweetest puppy that we had ever met, but she was taken from us way too soon. She was said to be three and a half months old, and even though her life was short, we hope she felt all the love we gave her during the hours she was with us.
Rest in peace, Saki. We miss you very, very much. Chester’s grandpa will take good care of you.](http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m3j3tq1Yjx1qa3cbxo1_1280.jpg)
